Out of Character

This is tougher than looking for an A plus research paper topic, I thought to myself.

People do not know this, but despite the fact that I hated stereotypes, I enjoyed watching and joining beauty pageants. It was the only contradicting trait for my independent woman persona.

Nevertheless, I decided to join the pageant in my dad’s hometown. That was the great thing with having two homes; you can have a different kind of life for each one. Despite the criticism, I believe that pageants encourage positive values such as poise, grace and elegance in today's world.

I also detest that many people think that beauty pageant contestants are just a bunch of airheads. I have met fellow contestants who are smart, witty and on the top of their respective fields. These are just some of the reasons why I do not believe in pageant stereotypes in the first place.
